Abstract

Singer-Avitz (2006) recently suggested comparing the Kuntillet 'Ajrudpottery assemblage to the Lachish III pottery horizon and accordinglydown dating it to the late 8th century BCE. Yet, certain forms foundat the site already appear in Iron IIA strata in both the north andsouth of Israel. I therefore support Ayalon's (1995) original datingof the site to the late 9th and first half of the 8th centuries BCE.
